This article acts as a guide for students to get more familiar navigating the Windows file system for saving things in the proper location.

Saving student work can be a little tricky for Kodu as the way it saves its game files and progress can be challenging for those new to filesystem navigation on Windows

Step 1 - If you are inside the Kodu Game Lab ready to save your file, press the Home icon at the bottom left of the screen.

Step 2 - Name your game and give it a description if you so desire.

Step 3 - Go back to the Home button again and press "Exit to Main Menu"

Step 4 - Next we need to Export the game now that it has been saved (this will be the official file they will open the next time they come in for class). Go to "Load World" and select the Project file they saved previously. Click on it then Select “Export”

Step 5 - Choose the file path to the "Learners" drive found in “This PC” in the lefthand list box and under Learners they will save it in the folder with the login name they used to login to the computers (Some labs they will all save to the same folder if using the same login)

Step 6 - When the student comes back in and opens Kodu they will need to select “Import From Desktop” and navigate to the Learners drive again and it should have saved their progress in which they can continue their project (project should end with extension “.Kodu2”).
