Overview:

The LanSchool Classic Teacher Console will be seen running in the system tray.  On Windows, the console can be launched using any of the following methods:

  1. Left click the system tray icon.
  2. Right click the system tray icon and choose “Open LanSchool Console...”
  3. Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+ALT+L to launch the console.

The LanSchool Teacher Console is the interface teachers will use to manage their classroom and students.  It contains all the tools necessary for a teacher to effectively interact with students and create a controlled/safe digital environment.

To use many of LanSchool's functions, you can simply right click on the thumbnail for the computer you want to interact with, then select from the popup menu. Here are some of the most useful features:

  1. Remote Control: This will put the students screen in full screen, and allow you to control it with your keyboard and mouse from the facilitator computer.
  2. Send Files: This allows you to send files saved on your facilitator computer to the student computer you have selected.
  3. Blank Screen: When selected, “blank screen” will be toggled on. You can toggle this off at any time. While this is on, the student's screen will be blanked, so they cannot use the computer.
  4. Share Screen: This allows you to show your screen on the selected student

Other LanSchool functions are global. For example, if you select “Administer > Preferences,” you can choose “Web Limiting.” On this page, you're able to block certain sites, or you can instead choose to only allow specific sites. FAQ:

LanSchool is prompting me for an update, should I install the update?

It is optional to install updates for LanSchool. If you would like to install an update, contact support@clsonline.com and we will assist you with getting the required install file and license key.

LanSchool is experiencing slowness/bugs or is not opening, what do I do?

LanSchool sometimes experiences issues related to duplicate processes running in the background. This can be resolved by ending these tasks in Task Manager.

I cannot see certain computers in LanSchool Teacher Console, how do I fix this?

Make sure the missing computers are using a wired internet connection, and are not connected to wifi. Computers may not show in LanSchool Console if they are using wifi. Also, try restarting the student computer, because computers can disconnect from LanSchool if they are running for too long.
