Getting the Hostname of the Server
Finding Your CLS Server Hostname
To find the hostname of your server
- Remote into Server using the Remote Desktop named “CLS Server” or “Remote Desktop Connection” depending on when your lab was installed. Just search the windows search bar for “Remote Desktop Connection” if it is not already on your desktop.

2. It should have the Server hostname already filled out in the "Computer:" field
If Server hostname is not there or it is blank
- Hold Shift and right click on either "Learners on CLS-Server", "MediaLibrary on CLS-Server", or “Transfer on CLS-Server” and click properties

2. In the "Target" box you should see (your school initials)-cls-server (ex. cls-cls-server)

If you still cannot find your Server Hostname
- There is another monitor and keyboard and mouse at the Teacher's desk
- Press a key on the keyboard or wiggle the mouse to wake it up, if it does not wake up, look under your desk and you should see a computer tower, that is the server in the SmartLab, if it is not there, the CLS server may be in another server room in the school and you will have to ask your IT personnel if they can check if the server is powered on and it has internet connectivity. Otherwise press the power button in the top left quadrant of the front panel of the server if it is not already lit up green.
- If it wakes up, login with Einstein as the username and e=mc2 as the password
- Open a command prompt by searching Command Prompt in the Windows search bar

5. Inside of Command Prompt type the command hostname and press enter

6. You will now see the hostname of the Server
