Creating a Clonezilla Bootable USB
How to create a bootable Clonezilla USB
If your version of Clonezilla that came in the recovery kit doesn't work, you will need to use one of the USB's provided by Creative Learning Systems found in the SmartLab Recovery kit, or, SCRS for short. It should be in the cabinet in the classroom. The padlock code is “257” or “123”. At the time of this article we are using Clonezilla.
This guide was created using "clonezilla-live-3.1.2-22-amd64.iso" and steps may be out of order or different depending on the version of Clonezilla you are using. You can build a bootable Clonezilla USB on one of our SmartLab provided USB sticks found in the SCRS Recovery Kit. Additionally, linked here is the Clonezilla version used when creating this guide for you to download: (Clonezilla 3.1.2-22) and Rufus (Rufus 4.5p) to Build the Bootable Clonezilla USB Drive
First you need to plug in the USB drive in the Einstein computer and go to “This PC”

Right click on the USB Drive and, from the menu after you have right clicked on the USB, select “Format…” in the drop down list and you should be brought to this menu. Match the settings to the screenshot excluding the Capacity field as it is unchangeable. For Clonezilla Live USB to boot, the File system needs to be formatted FAT32, NOT NTFS
After formatting the USB to be imaged with Clonezilla, you will need to download the version 4.5.2180 of Rufus on the teacher or Einstein computer from here (Rufus Bootable USB Creator).
After it is done downloading, run it, and click “No” here

Select the USB Device we are going to put the USB image on to using the Device drop down menu

Use the SELECT button to select the Clonezilla iso where you saved it to on the computer

Make sure all settings match before clicking the "START" button to burn the Clonezilla Bootable image to the USB drive

Make sure “Write in ISO image mode” is selected

Click “OK” to start burning Clonezilla to the USB; If you get this message, click “Yes” button

Click the “OK” button to start the Clonezilla Live installation on the USB

Wait for a few minutes while it burns the Clonezilla Bootable image to the USB and your Clonezille Bootable Drive is now "READY"!
